That seems like an odd thing for the Pope to say. Priests and bishops didn't have relationships with God? Perhaps it's the translation, or I'm reading it too literally. As stated, that would seem to me to be a way to still subtly distance the Church from the scandals. All these people, from the perpetrators to the administrators, were rogues -- wolves in sheeps' clothing. Seems to me that the more chilling reality is that the people involved in the scandals DID have relationships with God, or they sure THOUGHT they did, yet committed these acts, and were more concerned about the Church's image than the victims, anyway. <br /><br />Also, Neil, there's a typo in the second-last sentence: "Each of us must chose whom to support now: the rapists or the victims."
