In ancient times only Troy and Carthage.

Horrific as the atomic blasts were many more Japanese died in the fire bonbing of major cities. Hiroshima had been spared much of that even though it was an industrial and military center because it was thought that a relatively untouched target was needed to provide a cliear demonstration of the effects of the bonb. Nagasaki was something of an afterthought. The initial preferred target was Kyoto, but Henry Stimson, Secretary of War, objected because he fondly remembered honeyooning there.

Tom EvansTomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09641357239788323783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-43302166942856271592016-03-10T10:17:06.049-06:002016-03-10T10:17:06.049-06:00Like Chicago minus the senseless gun violence, I w...Like Chicago minus the senseless gun violence, I would imagine... and with whale bacon, which horrifies me nearly as much as does the gun violence.PadraigElliothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02129677070567100371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-20495643609740069512016-03-10T07:13:21.993-06:002016-03-10T07:13:21.993-06:00Aligato.
