But it is true -- the 50th anniversary of his last no-hitter. The old guy tottered out and dribbled a ball that didn't make it half way to the plate. Sort of sad really. On our way to check-in at the Holiday Inn on Euclid, we were buzzed by fighter planes. The Cleveland National Air Show was that weekend!

At the game, the Indians were giving away Grady Sizemore blankets. The Sox won 7-0 and we used our new blankets to cover the grass as we laid on the field after the game to watch "Field of Dreams" on the LF scoreboard. On our way back to the hotel we merged with the large crowd leaving the Army-Akron game that was held at Browns Stadium.

On Sunday morning, this Iowa native walked -- solo -- back to Jacobs Field to pay homage to the Bob Feller Statue.

Later, we stood on the roof of the Holiday Inn parking garage and watched the days events unfold at the air show. With an unobstructed and FREE view of the lake front, it was quite a day.

Baseball, Football, a Movie and The Thunderbirds, what a weekend.

To this day, my son considers Cleveland to be the greatest city he has ever visited. My daughter was not so impressed. Upon returning to school, she wrote in her daily activity log, "Went to Cleveland for the weekend. Daddy got a speeding ticket."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00520582903181859518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-25598086062970834422013-08-20T14:27:42.664-05:002013-08-20T14:27:42.664-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00520582903181859518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-4960658837912768782013-08-20T12:06:10.212-05:002013-08-20T12:06:10.212-05:00I had read that somewhere a long time ago -- was s...I had read that somewhere a long time ago -- was surprised.SandyKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-67326043921086857032013-08-20T11:41:25.117-05:002013-08-20T11:41:25.117-05:00We just dropped our oldest off for his freshman ye...We just dropped our oldest off for his freshman year at Case Western Reserve. I arrived on a Thursday around 8pm and found the streets deserted and the restaurants closed. The next morning I left around 8am and conditions were quite the same. I'm glad you and your family found Cleveland much differently than I did Neil. I can't think of a reason for me to stop there again on my next trip.
