The defense lawyer referred to Weber's parents as "fine", but the truth is William Weber Sr. (an old, racist teamster) beat the empathy out of his wife, 2 of his 3 daughters and youngest son, William Jr.; and taught him to hate. This doesn't excuse Jr's actions, but they really should consider the parents of child-murderers culpable to some extent because it is very rare that their actions are not part of story.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-54248624766785984372017-02-05T12:38:35.015-06:002017-02-05T12:38:35.015-06:00Once in a while we have done some good deeds.Once in a while we have done some good deeds.Privatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10757585399827295128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-92112013849393442912017-02-03T23:35:35.168-06:002017-02-03T23:35:35.168-06:00A great column Neil, what a tragic tale. I could only find one Tribune story of 11/13/59, very dramatic about the aftermath of the mistrial.TomTwainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17038737612028216431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-23894058087627498602017-02-03T10:09:51.672-06:002017-02-03T10:09:51.672-06:00This was absolutely heart-breaking to read. While the victims change the defensive rhetoric of the hate filled perpetrator has remained the same.

JolynUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06291231788745711687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-17397080644224081102017-02-02T08:34:27.308-06:002017-02-02T08:34:27.308-06:00I feel I should say something about this in that I...I feel I should say something about this in that I was living at 78th & Coles in 1959, but I had my own troubles that year culminating in my quitting high school (yes, Mt. Carmel) and joining the Navy late in the year. I have no memories of the event and only heard of it later. Sad to say, most of what I heard was how difficult it was for the kids, not how tragic was the death of a young father, a wounded veteran of the War, with a bright future before him.

johntatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10088632798195131329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-6740675313880309072017-02-02T06:48:47.716-06:002017-02-02T06:48:47.716-06:00Thank you for this enlightening account, sad as it...Thank you for this enlightening account, sad as it may be.Privatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10757585399827295128noreply@blogger.com
