I live in Racine.(actually the village of Mount Pleasant) We are probably 5 minute walk from the dividing line. I don't know how many eligible voters there are in our district. There are are two lines. One for last names A to M and then the rest of the alphabet. I was the 284th voter. I assume they have numbers for each line. I think there were only two contested races. The rest had no opposition. I have no idea what the solution is.sanfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06580867647162091670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-81015141636349655522017-04-05T18:04:49.484-05:002017-04-05T18:04:49.484-05:00The thing that fascinates me about voting is that ...The thing that fascinates me about voting is that it's the closest we come in real life to Zeno's Paradox--you know, the one about the tortoise and the sprinter that we all learn about in Philosophy 101. Except for literal ties, which almost never happen, it's true that each individual vote by itself doesn't matter, but collectively they do. That's why I roll my eyes when someone says "My vote doesn't count." It's a religious act without a reward, the best kind I would think.

johntatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10088632798195131329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-43881980353615166062017-04-05T10:58:12.627-05:002017-04-05T10:58:12.627-05:00Of the two elections I really cared about--the Elg...Of the two elections I really cared about--the Elgin city council and the school board--I'm proud to say that six of the seven candidates I voted for won. I enjoy the thought that I had at least a tiny part in their victories.Bitter Scribehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04645909858616987997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-86539075054927725672017-04-05T07:47:04.819-05:002017-04-05T07:47:04.819-05:00meant overpowered my large statesmeant overpowered my large statesPrivatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10757585399827295128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-2737493792431122872017-04-05T07:27:37.632-05:002017-04-05T07:27:37.632-05:00The Constitution of the United States places two r...The Constitution of the United States places two responsibilities on its citizens, voting and jury duty. For things to work as the Founding Fathers intended, first you need to educate yourself about the issues and vote accordingly. Second, listen to testimony and don't fall asleep during the trial.Berniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17157600812959885192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-66026795245809112602017-04-05T06:22:08.018-05:002017-04-05T06:22:08.018-05:00Love the photo. So thus, a bicameral legislature with equal representation in the Senate as the Constitution was being written. Thanks for making me laugh out loud. And it could not be a better image -- the hints of sliminess and primitive fear I often feel about those who seek political office. Not to tar all of them, of course, just the ones who seem to rise to the top of that pail.Petehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08677646544612398076noreply@blogger.com
