I enjoyed this...Yes, that was an obvious question. I enjoyed this post and the tree, while also appreciating the explanation of "Bebb."

To me, another question was just as obvious. You've lived in the leafy, suburban paradise all these years, you love trees, you've *heard* about this tree, it's the official Village Tree, yet you've never sought it out? That the answer is just as obvious -- No -- still seems like a curiosity to me.

I imagine it's mildly pleasing for you that the official tree is named after a fellow transplanted Buckeye.

I love seeing a swell tree like that too, and am often frustrated by trying to get one to pose for an acceptable photo. You did well.

Not just the library and herbarium, but the technology to take a photo of a leaf and have your phone tell you what kind of tree it came from... Back in my kid days, Evanston also had many elm trees, but Dutch elm disease eventually killed them all...same as almost everywhere else.

Now I live in Northeast Ohio, a very green place. But we've lost too many trees in recent years, to age and weather and various diseases. Such a damn shame.Grizz 65https://www.blogger.com/profile/02892702223228764894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-13400807514344720552020-07-30T10:04:28.838-05:002020-07-30T10:04:28.838-05:00for any lover of trees, i highly recommend the nov...for any lover of trees, i highly recommend the novel "The Overstory", a glorious homage to the importance of the tree and a rip-roaring great yarn. pgwhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03804745965409667786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972382144120426476.post-31736245959899382932020-07-30T06:25:33.016-05:002020-07-30T06:25:33.016-05:00Love old trees.
