Pack your lunch!

Pack your lunch, and slide by my last book signing of Out of the Wreck I Rise: A Literary Companion to Recovery, published by the University of Chicago Press and written with Sara Bader. It's from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at Chicago's iconic office supply store, Atlas Stationers, 227 W. Lake.  A 75-year-old family-run business, owned by Don and Therese Schmidt, Atlas is the closest thing Chicago has to the ancient stationery shops of London. I'll be there signing books, and since Don—against my advice, I should add—wants to show that Amazon has nothing on him, thank you very much—the books are priced at $15.95, 30 percent below list and a penny under the behemoth Amazon. Hope to see you there!

  2. Sorry Neil, I planned my day around getting there, but re-injured my foot and had to stay mostly immobile. Can I still get one of yours at Atlas on another day?

    1. Sorry to hear about the foot. I've signed a number of copies that'll be on sale there. If you want, you can purchase one over the phone and I'll sign it to you and it'll be waiting.

  3. Sadly I can't make a reading and must depend on Amazon. But am looking for something else to order to get free shipping. Good reader reviews.

Most of the comments come from those recovering from alcohol addiction, but one lady commented that everybody is addicted to something. A current, and hopefully temporary one is the compulsion to read every word of punditry on the current political campaign. In that respect, the New Yorker has a priceless, post debate, cover portraying Donald Trump of "Miss Geniality."

  4. I enjoyed meeting and talking with you at the signing today. I believe your book will help a lot of people....the addicts/alcoholics and their families and friends.

    Thank you
