Not my Constitution, buddy

Smithsonian Museum of American History

You know we’ve sailed off into the stratosphere of national dysfunction when the former president of the United States, citing the same imaginary voter fraud he’s been raging about for two years, can suggest the Constitution be suspended, along “with all rules, regulations and articles,” through some equally imaginary process, so he can be returned to power, through notional governmental machinery that also doesn’t exist, and it’s not the main topic of conversation in the following days.
But here we are. He said this on his Truth Social platform Saturday. It was the third headline on the Washington Post web page Sunday, under an article about sick leave among railroad workers.
“So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party ...” begins the latest lie.
The funny thing ... not funny ha-ha but funny sad ... is that Trump still can’t even vaguely offer a plausible theory of how this uppercase wrongdoing might have unfolded, never mind provide evidence.
He then muses whether “you” (the American people, I suppose) should “throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER” (him, I assume, again through some process that isn’t there, assuming he doesn’t mean violence, which of course he does) “or do you have a NEW ELECTION?”
That’s cute. Because if you sincerely thought the election was stolen, in some obscure way you couldn’t articulate never mind prove, then what would be the point of calling for a new election? Wouldn’t George Soros just smile and tap a few figures into his phone, again, and that would be it? We wuz robbed again!
Or gee, maybe Trump really doesn’t believe it himself and is just a grifter working a con. Letting his deluded faithful do the dirty work for him. Which is why nearly 1,000 Jan. 6 insurrectionists have already been arrested and charged, with hundreds pleading guilty and dozens going to prison. All except the ringleader, who struts around, trying to reprise his crime, with greater success next time.

  1. Alright, my gloves are off.

THIRD on the Worthlessington Post trashsite? WHO GIVES A FUCK, WAPO?

I mean, who gives a flippin' fuckity-fuck WHAT that jerk Drumpf has to say? WHY IS THIS NEWS?

It's the same bullshit he's been spewing for the past two years. YOU say this, Neil, and federal Marshalls are hauling you away, followed closely by the men in white coats.

Treat Drumpf like the lunatic he is - ignore him.

  2. As much as we readers may tire of tirades against the orange dictator, do not...repeat...DO NOT STOP. We must be continually reminded of the danger of his toxic rhetoric. He is a human catalyst forging the collapse of democracy and decency.
    Keep on keepin' on, Neil.

    1. I don't see how it can be ignored.

    2. OK, "ignored" may not be possible. But to treat it, as the "MSM" have, as news worthy of actually reporting on (as if there are two or more sides to the Drumpf Issue) gives is a gravitas, an importance, far in excess of its worth.

Why are you (plural you, to the 4th estate) treating Drumpf's words with any more seriousness than, say, that Alien Invasion guy? Or Mike Lindell?

When he was the "prez'nint", I could understand it.

Now that he's a nobody, a nothing, a bigmouthed putz...why bother? Save the ink.

    3. My former dentist (I dumped him after his anti-Obama tirades when I was in the chair) displayed a poster that said: "Ignore your teeth and they'll go away..." Same idea. Ignore Hitler and the Jews of Europe go away. Ignore the orange bastard and American democracy goes away.

    4. Spot on, Grizz. You're right, I'm ... frustrated.

    5. It can be ignored the same way that the deranged ramblings of any other old, doddering, addle brained Floridian fool can and should be ignored.

But he’s not any old fool, he’s an ex-president you say? Well, do you think that any detached, incoherent muttering that Reagan gave voice to over the last ten years of his life should have been printed up in the Post? His cultish devotees would no doubt have found profound insight in anything that he had to say, regardless of how far along he was on the dementia train, but I don’t think it would have been a public service.

I know this might seem like the right thing to do, but I strongly disagree. Trump’s zombie horde are encouraged by this kind of publicity, not the absence of it.

  3. Absolute proof he has dementia & total insanity. He's setting up an insanity defense for when he's indicted for stealing the document found at Merde Lardo.

  4. As always, Neil, I couldn't have said it better. Only the size of his cell would I change. A telephone booth would be of sufficient size, leaving ample room for enablers and fellow travelers of The Cowardly Liar to suffer beside their hero. In an autocratic country his family would have already been billed for the bullet. For the MakeItStop crowd I would suggest the opposite, an empty box on Page One waiting for evidence of the Big Steal. Grizz, I would remind your dentist that there's a lot of pain before those teeth are all gone.

    1. He's no longer my dentist and hasn't been for over a decade. He and his assistant would rant about Obama (and other things) while I had a mouth full of instruments and goo. That was a bullshit move on his part, so I changed dentists. The tooth pain comes to those who do the ignoring. The dentist's pain comes from the oversize growth on his butt...as his wallet gets bigger and heavier.

  5. From what I have read his latest angle on why the election results should be reversed is because Twitter, prior to the election blocked people from posting links to Hunter biden's shenanigans because Twitter felt like they weren't well-founded.
Now I don't know if they are any more well-founded than they were before. But clearly Hunter is a s*** bag and clearly his father realizes that and maybe his father knows that he was up to this crap with Ukraine and China so that he could make money off his dad's name.
If Twitter and other forms of social and MSM media would have made a bigger deal out of hunters dealings with foreign powers would it have changed the election results?
There is no way of knowing but clearly Americans were motivated to vote this a****** out. Other Americans want to keep him in very very badly. I understand why, he leads their cult.
Woke liberals and progressives can be pretty damn annoying, especially two people in the heartland. Our cosmopolitan views are not shared by fundamental Christians and white supremacists.
Whether Trump holds sway over these groups or not, they're still going to exist. And they are the real problem in America.
If Republicans find a candidate with similar views as Trump who's less of a f******* it's very possible that we could end up with another president that has similiar policy goals
I'm somewhat heartened by the midterm results. Let's keep our foot on the pedal as far as voting and not let these bigots back in the White House
Unfortunately it's likely to be Biden running again and I don't see how he could possibly get reelected and if he does, is he really capable of being president for four more years?

    1. So Franco, do you have any real new evidence on Hunter Biden, or are you content to continue to push the current BS until it gains more truthiness?

Maybe Hunter is a shitbag, maybe not. No need for you to repeat that lie here.

    2. I feel like I can interpret s*** and a****** pretty easily. I'm having trouble with f*******, however. Fuckface fits, but doesn't really seem to ring true. What 8-letter curse word is synonymous with incompetent bastard, I wonder? Leave it to Franco to edit his comment for a family-friendly audience, when this is one forum where that is clearly unnecessary. There were 3 fucks on the table after 4 lines from the Commentariat today, after all! :)

    3. The Hunter Biden story might have been a smutty and salacious trifle, but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t have legs. Twitter and other media outlets pretended that it didn’t and swept it under the rug in a way that would be difficult to fathom it it’s subject had been Eric or Don Jr. instead.

    4. I've let you guys go on a bit, but this really isn't the place to vent about Hunter Biden. If you find your comments after today never get posted, if means you've failed to clear the very low bar.

    6. I enjoy Wordle, as well, Grizz. In lieu of a response from Franco, I'll accept your wife's suggestion as a solid likelihood -- certainly better than my guess. She's probably better at Wordle than I am, too! : )

  6. Sure, Trump is the ringleader of all this foolishness but I give equal fault to those Republican election deniers who know quite well the process was legit.
If the GOP would simply stand up to Trump and tell it like it is, they and the whole country could start moving forward rather than being stuck in this miasma.

  7. I just got home and turned on MSNBC, and now Trump is walking back his comments and says he never said that. Does he understand the concept of audio and visual recordings?

So far, except for Cheney and Kinzinger I think, no Republicans have spoken out to condemn Trump for the latest spewing of this shit. Okay, let's throw out the Constitution! Do he or his followers even think how to do that? Biden will do it by executive order? Congress will do it? Trump will do it by thinking about it, just like declassifying confidential documents?

However, I do think Republicans should be praised for their ability to stand and walk with absolutely no spines. A medical miracle!
