Saturday fun activity: Where IS this?
When I looked out the window of the 15th floor of this building last week, my first thought was, "Wow, look at all those trees."
My second thought was, "I bet this stumps 'em."
You might think we are out in the hinterlands of Michigan.
But we're not.
We're exactly a 41 minute drive from the Willis Tower, according to Google maps.
What is this expanse of green?
And where am I standing?
The winner gets a copy of my rare, practically unique 1996 collection of supposedly humorous essays, "The Alphabet of Modern Annoyances." Post your guesses below.

Somewhere on the Illinois & Michigan Canal, near Lockport, which is exactly a 41 minute drive from Sears Tower!
ReplyDeleteNope. Not even warm.
ReplyDeleteOakbrook Terrace Tower?
ReplyDeleteNot close.
ReplyDeleteIndiana dunes?
ReplyDeleteOff by 50 miles, at least.
DeletePalisades? RT 83.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken that's the footbridge on the Des Plaines River Trail as it crosses said river in Potawatomi Park in Wheeling. You would be standing in the Westin Chicago North Shore (according to Google maps 29.8 miles, and a 41 minute drive, from the Sears/Willis Tower) and shooting in a south-easterly direction.... stayed there oncet to attend a wedding.
ReplyDeleteNo Paul, you are not mistaken. Congrats--email me your address at dailysteinberg@gmail.com and I'll send you your book. Well done!
DeleteAwesome indeed, that's some camera trick too. Props to the prop master!
DeleteAnd Mr. Dave [along with his invited guest for that evening] only stays at the Lake Shore Drive W Hotel, which boasts views of three states of mind.
Fermilab?
