Saturday fun activity: Where IS this?
Now this is strange. It kinds looks like a bank vault, but it's not. Or a crypt of some kind, which is also way off. It's in the private zones of a semi-public building, far underground, and that's all I should say, because you guys have been nailing these so consistently.
Better for me to talk about today's prize, a bag of whole bean, full-bodied, richly wonderful Bubbly Creek Coffee from the good folks at Bridgeport Coffee. I've been drinking this stuff hand-over-fist: it's knocked Cafe du Monde right out of the No. 1 spot, just by its consistent drinkability and robust wonderfulness.
You know the drill. Place your guesses below. Good luck, though at this point you should be wishing that to me.

Haha, i know this one. If the "No Dale" rule is still in effect, I will defer my guess until morning. Someone else has got to know this one. Good luck everyone! Dale
ReplyDeleteYou're omnipotent Dale -- I appreciate your largess on this. It's 5 a.m., I'd say give 'em until 7 a.m. and go in for the kill. Or better yet -- email me the answer as soon as you can, lock down the prize, and leave the field here for the second-placers to guess. I think that'll make everyone happy.
DeleteCompact shelving at the Field Museum for storing specimens
ReplyDeleteThe Field should be so lucky. More likely shelving used to hold documents cataloguing the Field's financial woes. But no, not that either.
DeleteUniversity of Chicago Library. Thanks, these are fun! Pat Carey
ReplyDeleteRight you are Pat. I've got your address already. Though the Dale rules apply -- you can only win twice, then you have to wait a month before you win again.
DeleteCool, thanks so much! Pat
DeleteCongrats Pat.
DeleteHowever, cheers to "Dale" if he or she nailed it first, and all the best! Pat Carey
ReplyDeleteHe thinks he did, though of course could be mistaken. Though I imagine he isn't. He's very good.
DeleteTechnically, it's the Automated Storage and Retrieval System or ASRS at the University of Chicago library, designed by architect Helmut Jahn. Pretty impressive.
DeleteReally, designed by Jahn. And yet it works? I didn't know he was involved.
DeleteWell, I could have identified the UVa Rotunda in the photo atop the blog, which, upon arriving at EGD today, I thought was a pretty easy choice for the contest, before seeing the real entry. I think that warrants a steaming cup of water from Bubbly Creek, itself. ; )
