Saturday fun activity—Where IS this?

It looks like an Apollo space capsule.
     But it isn't.
It's displayed as if it were in a museum.
     But it's not.
To see it you have to pay.
But you're not paying to see it.
It's in a very famous place.
But it's not where it's supposed to be.
     What IS this thing?
     And where is it?
Post your answers below.  The first correct answer will receive one of my dwindling stock of two-color, super-collectible blog posters. Good luck.

  2. Nope. Remember the clues. Not a museum.

  3. I haven't been there in over forty years but something tells me this is on the way up to the John Hancock Building Observation Deck...

  4. Yes! Well done. The "John Hancock Center Skystone," a time capsule that was supposed to be housed at the top of the building but ended up in the lobby. Email me your address at dailysteinberg@gmail.com to collect your poster.
