Saturday fun activity: Who IS this?

     Not everything becomes a story.
     At least not right away.
A mutual friend suggested that I should get together with this gentleman.
     So I did.
And we had a cup of coffee downtown, talked for maybe an hour, a thoroughly interesting conversation, about a variety of topics, from our children, to natural food, to Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Then we went our separate ways, though we're hoping to have dinner in February, if our schedules permit.
His brother is quite famous, though he's becoming well known in his own right.
Not the best photo—my apologies, the light was odd, and I only had a moment to snap a picture.
But it should be good enough to do the job.
Who is this fellow, and where is he standing?
The winner will receive a bag of fine Bridgeport coffee, roasted right here on the near Southwest side of Chicago.
Please remember to post your guesses below. Good luck.

  4. It's almost 9AM and only the parties involved and, of course, Dale knows the answer? I'm really interested in knowing who this is and why Neil thought it was worth mentioning

  5. It's at The Kitchen on Clark, but I don't know who it is.

    1. You're correct on the location. Knowing that, it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out who this guy is. I'll give you a hint: we didn't pay for our coffee.

  6. With the other guesses and a bit of google-fu, it's Kimbal Musk. I think his brother maybe had something to do with an electric car, of course after he started paypal.

  7. You got it Matt. Congrats. Brother of Elon Musk, who started Tesla, SpaceX, Paypal. Very thoughtful young man and successful in his own right. Send me your email and I'll send you your coffee.

  8. Elon, that's a unique name. Hebrew perhaps.

  9. Also hebrew. Means tree or oak tree. Feminine form is Elana.

  10. Couldn't have guessed if I tried twice as hard as usual to figure it out.
Looking forward to an article or blog post that shares more. NO unfulfilled teasers, Mr. Steinberg. Whetting the (is that the right word) appetite for an intelligent and thoughtful writing of a conversation between two seemingly thoughtful and intelligent people makes me twinkle toe giddy with anticipation. Sorry. You put it out there, now you should deliver. Tell us what it was
About and how it went. Please. Pretty please.

  11. I was about to say I'd like to, but I didn't take notes. Though now that I think of it, I did run a tape recorder. Let me give it a listen and see if there's anything worth passing along.
