Saturday fun activity: Where IS this?

I'm traveling today, so I didn't want a fun activity that would be solved too easily, since I can't supervise the contest this morning, and probably won't check in until mid-afternoon (so be nice).
Where is this man? Bonus points for who he is, and what he's doing. It isn't simple, but it shouldn't be that hard either.
Good luck, have fun, place your guesses below. And the winner gets ... heck, the posters are getting tiresome. How about a copy of "Complete & Utter Failure"? I think that will serve.

  1. I'm guessing he was a student of Milton Horn.

    1. That wasn't intended as a complement.
      Horn was a terrible sculptor.
      His stuff is really ugly!

  2. A wild guess, haven't visited in years, Lillstreet Art Center, 4401 N. Ravenswood Ave. An art Studio that's been around at least 40 years, and deserves some notice. He looks like Bob Horn, probably no relation to Milton.

  3. OT: Couldn't help but notice that EGD is nearing the 1,500,000 mark in hits (half-way to 2 million, and perhaps another celebration in the famous "Party Room" :)

  4. I've been puzzling on this off and on all day, the best I can do is he seems to be working on a labyrinth that is a memorial to the Holocaust. Rather fun, tricky puzzle today.

  6. Success! Had to happen. This is the Beloved Community Studio, part of IMAN, of the Inner-City Muslim Action Network, on W. 63rd Street. The artist is John Pittman, crafting a Martin Luther King Memorial that will be unveiled in Marquette Park Aug. 5. I said it was a toughie. Thanks for playing.
